Encapsulated Liquid Crystals
How do they work?
For the technical, they are chemical compounds that change colour in
direct relation to wavelengths emitted by changes in heat.
When micro encapsulated on to film, they provide a fast and accurate
measurement of heat between 25°C and + 60° - special types are available
for temperatures between -35° and +100° The colours go from brown
(coldest) to red and finally blue (hottest)
Various types of thermometers can be created such as ambient, fever,
bath, fridge, fish tank, baby’s milk etc. Further development of the
technology has led to other uses such as detecting cellulite, stress and
skin hydration. Many more applications have been used in the premiums
industry.
Magicolour
These are plastic items like mugs, spoons and drinking straws that
change colour in hot or cold environments, e.g. hot drinks or ice cream.
Reacting almost instantaneously to the immersion and quickly reverting back to base colour after use,
they are practical, yet eye catching products that can make a food
or drink promotion really fun.
